Touch of Grey

The weather has been like cement all day: the shades of grey are infinite.
A rainbow sparkled momentarily when, I was awarded the prestigious, "Cool Twitter Name of the Day" by StoryofMyLife.com .

Now that party is over, I've gone back to chores.
And working on art direction for BaoTran's Film "Black Coffee".

Chosen for SIFF 2009 Fly Film Challenge, Bao and his crew follow strict guide lines for production in order to win.

We're in preproduction now, and shoot next week! I'll post the SIFF schedule when it becomes available.

Meanwhile darts continue at Die BierStube.

The Last Days of Meyers

I really thought I'd get a few little juicers from my beautiful plant, but the dozens of delicious smelling clusters have fallen, one by one to the floor.

I've had to use imported Meyers to supplement my frozen cache to make my tarts.  But tasty they are.

I am learning the tricks of not overblending the butter into the pastry and as an experiment, I added the last crumbs of toasted oat cereal and flaxseed.  1 tbsp, not enough to make it dry.

The result? A subtle toasty crust that really looks homey and holds up well on a plate.

Now off to share it with the Poker Posse!

fear of mediocrity

I've realized why it has taken so long to make an initial posting:
I'm simply afraid it will be mediocre.

I need to accept that sometimes it might only be that. And sometimes it will be good.
And sometimes top notch.

check it:
a dear lady, name of Erica, actually went searching for the recipe online to my left-over
St. Patrick's Day Corned Beef & Soggy Cabbage Shepherds Pie.
She liked the looks of the picture I posted from my iPhone on foodphotoblog.com !

Bless her heart.

So I guess that's not mediocre.
And it really was tasty.

I think feel encouragement.
